Interview with Rahul Ghosal: Digital Health meets Distributional Data Analysis. Creating meaningful and interpretable functional health metrics

 

Dr. Rahul Ghosal studies new statistical methods. His work includes functional data analysis for biosciences and distributional data analysis for wearable data, which is useful in studying gait, aging, and Alzheimer’s disease. He also works on topics like variable selection, nonparametric inference, shape-restricted regression, Bayesian inference, survival analysis, and environmental modeling.

Interview topic: Today we will talk about the growth of distributional data analysis in digital health studies. Dr. Rahul Ghosal and Dr. Marcos Matabuena have each suggested in separate papers that distributional data analysis can be an important tool for digital health research.
